Homemade Healthy Salad Dressings

Making your own salad dressings is easy!  Using my favorite kitchen time-saving hint, I throw all my ingredients in a regular-mouth canning jar.  I attatch my blender apparatus, flip it onto the blender, and blend!  Remove, and voila!  Salad dressing ready to use, already in its jar!

Honey Mustard Dressing

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup raw cider vinegar
  • 1 cup olive oil

If using blender method, combine all ingredients in quart jar and blend.  If mixing by hand, combine honey and mustard together, then mix in vinegar, adding the olive oil last.  Mix well.  This recipe makes 2 1/4 cups.

This recipe can be made in any quantity.  Notice that it is equal parts honey and mustard, a half part vinegar, and two parts oil.

Asian Ginger-Lime Dressing

This one works best in a blender due to the ginger and garlic.  It has a wonderful flavor!

  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 piece peeled fresh ginger (approx golf-ball sized)
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 1/4 cup soy or tamari sauce
  • 1 rounded tsp dijon mustard
  • Crushed red pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup sesame oil (optional)

Combine all in blender.  Makes about 2 cups.

French Dressing

  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/3 cup honey or agave nectar
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup raw cider vinegar
  • 1 garlic clove (minced well if not using blender)
  • 1/2 tsp. celery seed
  • 1/2 tsp celtic sea salt
  • 1 tsp paprika

Combine well.  Makes about 1 generous cup of dressing.
